Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

By installing or using Fork & Sync (the "app"), you agree to these terms. Plain English version: use the app for personal cooking, don't be a jerk to other users, don't share recipes you don't have rights to, and don't blame us if the app eats your homework.

1. The deal

Fork & Sync grants you a personal, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable license to use the app on iOS and (eventually) Android devices you own or control. You don't own the app, the brand, or the source code — you're licensing it to use.

2. Your account

You're responsible for your account credentials. You must be at least 13 years old to use the app. If you're under the age of majority in your country, your parent or legal guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.

3. Your content

You retain ownership of the recipes, photos, comments, and made-it records you create. By saving content to Fork & Sync, you grant us a limited license to store it, display it to the people you've explicitly shared with, and process it (e.g. scrape JSON-LD, run photo OCR) as necessary to operate the app.

You're responsible for what you save. Don't:

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms. We don't pre-moderate content; if you encounter something abusive, email us.

4. Subscriptions

Fork & Sync offers an optional auto-renewing subscription, Fork & Sync Premium, in two plans:

New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. The trial converts automatically to the paid plan unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Subsequent renewals occur at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.

Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. You can manage and cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions. Refund requests are handled by Apple, not Fork & Sync — contact Apple Support directly.

Free-tier users are limited to 5 recipes, 1 friend follow, and 1 photo scan. Premium lifts all of these.

5. Third-party services

The app uses Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Functions, Storage, FCM) and Google's Gemini API for photo-based recipe scanning. Your use of the app is also subject to those services' terms when their components are involved.

6. No warranty

Fork & Sync is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise the app will be free of bugs, that your recipes won't be lost in a Firebase outage, or that the recipe scraper will work on every site. We back up nothing; if you need a permanent archive of a recipe, save it elsewhere too.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties — express, implied, statutory, or otherwise — including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you've paid for the app in the 12 months preceding the claim (or, if the app is free, $20). We're not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages — including lost recipes, lost data, or lost cooking opportunities.

8. Termination

You can stop using the app at any time. You can delete your account by emailing chris@goodoswald.com. We can suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these terms; we'll try to give you notice unless doing so would compromise other users.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date and surface a notice in the app on next launch. Continued use after a material change means you accept the new terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of British Columbia.
